back at the home patch…

So we are back at the home patch, the place where I called home for 18 years. We are enjoying being lazy, drinking coffee, and catching up with family, and getting caught up on sleep. Nola was again up all night (3am-6am) since one of her wild aunties is still a crazy college girl and holds interesting hours. Love you,! (but I’m gonna have to kill you, or at least hand over all responsibility for my cranky children if it happens again, K?)

My parents are getting ready to do some major demo and remodel of their home (my childhood home) and my Mom is really cleaning house. Everything is up for grabs, everything must go. I came home, and have been offered everything but the kitchen sink, and I’m pretty sure she wants that gone too…apparently corner sinks are not “in” anymore.

What I do love is that she has kept so much for my childhood. So far, I’m now taking back to Indy a set of children’s encyclopedia Britannica, my old raggy ann doll, a whole huge sack of children’s records (you know, those black things that spin, piper didn’t know what they were when she saw them) and all these dirty, nakey cabbage patch babies. As you can tell, with four sisters growing up in the 80’s, we had lots of cabbage patch babies.

After bath time last night, we had a good ole’ photo shoot with my 2 nakey babies and the patch. It was pretty fun. Later today, we just might go hit the tulip farm and take pictures with the girls in matching Dutch Costumes. Oh yes, matching Dutch costumes that me and my sisters wore like 25 years ago. Should be a real Dutch Treat.

  4. Glad you all made it safe!!

That pic is adorable! My cabbage patch dolls are still around too…although I can’t guarantee how clean and fresh they are after being packed in a box for one of our hundreds of moves and never pulled out!

My grandmother recently gave me a box full of my old records. Piper loves them; we’ve been listening to “The Sesame Street Pet Show” and “The Three Little Pigs” at least once a day. I also have a full set of Gremlins storybooks with their records. Hm.

HI! I am new here. What a great pic! It reminds me of my childhood. I was a child of the 80’s too and had my fair share the cabbage patch babies too. I used to pose them and then make my dad take pictures of me with them.
