Knit Two – a book review

41BHXD85jML. SL500 AA240 Knit Two a book reviewI don’t do book reviews often, although I do read A TON. I obviously read lot of blogs (love you all, you know who you are), and I do read my fair share of actual, real, live, turn-the-page books!

Every year I post my book list (have done so for the past 3 years), and am looking forward to doing so again in just a few weeks, come end of the year.

One book of 2008 that is sure to make the list is Friday Night Knit Club by Kate Jacobs. I loved this book, to say the least. It’s a curl up by the fire, tug at your heartstrings good book. Granted, (without giving anything away) that the ending is beyond sad, it’s still a great read.

If you loved Friday Night Knit Club, you will love and appreciate Knit Two, it’s hot off the presses sequel. This book, out on bookstore shelves right now, is just as good or even better than it’s older sister.

As I’ve already stated, I loved the first book as was ecstatic when I got the opportunity to read an advanced copy of Knit Two. What I was most excited to see was how the 8 knit club characters ended up, 5 years into the future. The first book leaves you hanging in the limbs, wondering how everyone ended up. Knit Two answered most my questions, and I was not disappointed to say the least with the sequel.

The book has great character development, which is crucial for me. We get to learn what all of Georgia’s friends (including her daughter, Dakota) are up to . You find out what happens to Lucie, Peri, KC, Darwin, Anita, and Catherine (of course, their lives are discussed over beautiful, yummy skins of plush yarns). Even though their lives have all changed; they are all still the fantastic, beautiful characters we knew and loved from the first book.

Admittedly, I don’t even know how to knit (although it’s on my 2009 things to learn to-do list). I have to admit, if there was ever a book that made you want to cuddle up, have a cozy “girls night in” (and learn how to finish a mean heirloom afghan), this would be it.

Win it! I have a lovingly used copy of the first book Friday night Knit Club that I would love to give to one DesignHER Momma reader. If this sounds like a book you would love to dive into this holiday season, leave me a comment,(anything will suffice, I’ll even accept “I wanna win this”).

Winner will be selected at random next Tuesday the 16th. Good luck!

*this giveaway is closed, the random winner was #1, Betsy. Thanks!

Oh this is definitely going on my list of things to read now that it’s cold out and I’m inside ALOT. I’d happily read both of them.

  10. Three of the many things on my list for 2009 are: 1) to read more often, 2) to learn how to knit and 3) to have just a bit of time to accomplish anything on the list… Sounds like a great read. Please pick me!
