My Milkshakes Bringeth…
December 2, 2009 | Category: I'm a Momma, I'm The Rage's Momma
…this wee gentlefolk named Gage to the yard.
Today we celebrated his debut into society – first time out of the house and into a public building. First times strangers laid eyes on him. First time strangers complimented his handsomeness. First time a stranger touched him without asking me (not cool during flu season).
So what warranted this maiden voyage out of the house? His 1 week checkup of course!
Upon stripping him down to his dry diaper for the exam, a few observations were made:
1. He’s a big boy. Weighing in at 9lbs., 7 oz. he’s in the 77th percentile.
2. He’s a tall boy. Growing a 1/2 inch in 10 days brings his length to 21.5″ – putting him in the 80th percentile.
Which lead to more observations:
1. When discussing my pregnancy and Gage’s birth, the Dr. can’t hardly fathom how I can even stand up let alone walk around 10 days after I birthed him naturally. Apparently, when considering my size vs. his size, I’m a lucky girl.
2. The Dr. can’t believe he’s really my child. Given our past history with Birdie “Queen of the Freakishly Tiny”, this little guy is a tank. At this rate, he will out weigh his sister within the year.
1. How often do you nurse? Are you getting any sleep? Is he hooked up to the feedbag 24/7?
To answer – I’m actually getting tons of sleep considering the situation. If I didn’t wake him up to feed, he would sleep through the night. (seriously, knock on wood). The past few nights I’ve been getting him up around 4am, and that’s it.
Apparently – I don’t make milk.
I make fattypatatty milkshakes….
I could teach you – but I’d have to charge. (sorry 2005, you may have your song back now – I’m done with it).

"I make fattypatatty milkshakes…."
Oh! Can I borrow that… I'm feeling it real good over here too! I had to put my 12 week old in size 2 diapers. Charlotte didn't make it there until about 6 months old!

my best friend son who is a year younger than his sister out weighs her by about 10 pounds. He is a tank and she is so cute and petite.
Glad to hear that he is sleeping good and that you are feeling good.
I remember how I felt after giving birth to my 9#5ozer….altho it could be that not only was she huge she shot out of my nether reigons like a cannon!
Love those cheeks. Congrats again!

WHAT a cutie!! Love those cheeks.
And does your docotr recommend waking the baby to feed, I never heard of that.
My girls were 9lb10oz, 9lb.10.8oz, 9lb15oz-and she had had two movements BEFORE they weighed her (hey, i want props) – all delivered naturally. Mackenna by C-section a mere 9lb.3oz. with the tiniest head of the lot- I actually am convinced I could have sneezed her out if given the chance.

What a marvelous little man!
My 8lb 9 oz chunk was 13 lb at her 2 month checkup. Thanks for the milkshake line; now I'll have something to amuse the doctor at her 4-month weigh-in, which I expect to be just as impressive.

My second daughter gained nearly 3 pounds in her first three weeks. I quipped to the doctor, "I must have heavy cream in there." Seeing as she was a wee 5lbs. 10oz. at birth I guess she and my boobs figured she needed fat fast!
He's a sweetie. Congrats!
ciao,
rpm
