My "do-do" list
April 13, 2010 | Category: I'm a Momma
More days than not, I reflect on my day, and can’t think of one single thing I actually accomplished. I see messes left out, things that I wanted to do that I didn’t get to, and it makes me feel defeated. Today, I decided to reflect on my “do do” list (Friends reference there, for those of you old enough to remember). You know, the things that I do do. Or in this case, the things that I did.
My “do do” list for Monday, April 12:
Made 2 breakfasts
Got PK dressed and ready for school
Made PK’s school lunch
Got Birdie dressed
Got Gage dressed
Got myself ready (not showered)
Put away 4 loads of clean laundry
Ate brunch (hello leftovers)
Clipped grocery coupons
Made weekly meal plan
Got Gage & Birdie ready to do errands
Went to Lowes and bought flowers
Went to Target and bought everything
Went to the Grocery store and redeemed coupons
Filled a prescription
Came home and put away groceries
Did 3 loads of laundry (but didn’t put away)
Attempted unsuccessfully to nap Birdie and Gage
Unloaded dishwasher
Organized Polly Pockets, My Little Pony’s and Barbies into bins
Picked up PK from school
Brought PK (and friend) to gymnastics
Watched Gymnastics for an hour
Made the girls dinner (hello chicken nugget button)
Made Oodles of Noodles
Cleaned up from dinner
Facilitated Popsicle/playtime outside (while I read People, btw – Jesse James is a jerk)
Thought a lot about working out and/or showering
Picked up around the house
Put the girls to bed (brushed teeth, songs, stories, prayers, tucked in)
Wrote a product review for Simple
Updated a drawing for work
Watch TV (Dancing with the Stars, such a timesuck)
And finally – Michael came home from work -we then discussed getting rid of cable because all I do is watch network TV
*and I did the majority of these tasks one handed, since I had to hold Gage all day because he’s an unhappy teething little guy right now.
Things I did that I didn’t put in the time line (because I did them a lot, so much so that I would probably be embarrassed if I told you how much):
Nursed & burped Gage
Wiped butts (non of which were mine)
Washed my hands
Drank Diet Cokes
Checked email/twitter/facebook’ed
And at the end of the day, I finally crash. I Go to bed so I can do the same routine all over again tomorrow.
This is my life.
My “do-do” list. Not to be confused with doo doo…

AMAZING accomplishments!! Seriously, when you write it down or even think about all the "basic" things that HAVE to get done for your house to function and your kids to clean and fed…. the list is amazing:)
And that pic at the end is GREAT!!

I'd be extremely proud of myself if I accomplished all of that over the course of a week! You're a superstar.

This post made me appreciate you so much more than I already do (do do?). Thanks for the reminder that going Target w/ kids in tow can be chalked up to "doing something".

I'm not sure what I like more, the name of your list or that picture… Okay, the picture wins. Totally classic!
We do a TON as Mommies, don't we? My husband had to take over yesterday because I was laid up with back issues. Last night after all were in bed he said, "I have new found respect for what you do all day." AND, it was a day that the toddler was in pre-school – ha!
My post today, is kinda similar to this…

I really needed to read this today. Thanks Emily! We do do a lot don't we?
Also, LOVED the friends reference. I quote it all the time and very few people get it.

So goes the life of a busy mama.
I know you probably think you see a worn out mama when you see that picture butmy first thought was you look so tan and skinny and pretty.
To be added to an upcoming do-do list: Park time with Sarah. She'll bring the coffee!

Sounds so much like my days! Change the names & the getting a kid to school and it is my day…all the way down to the Diet Coke…although I prefer Diet Pepsi with Lime!
—Don't think I've ever been in a job interview and not thought about that Friends quote…very distracting. Ha!

Wow. It's amazing how much we do in a day, isn't it? Like, when you right it out like that – how DO we do it all again the next day… over and over and over again? Supermom, I tell ya! You are not alone! And yes, that picture = priceless!

That list made me a. Tired and b. Feel like a slacker. I don't know how you do it. I took 3 hours off work the other day while Natalee was at daycare and cleaned the house for our visiting family. When my husband got home he looked around and said "I thought you were going to clean the house?" I could have killed him…

Wow, it's like we're living parallel lives or something.
I only have one kiddo right now, but I'm still always running…it's crazy.
Super sweet photo by the way, I love it!

Sounds a lot like me, minus the gymnastics and school stuff. And I luckily only have two butts to wipe, not including my own.

You do a lot.
And I'm impressed that you make a weekly meal plan. I need to get back into that habit.
