Busy with this thing called living.
August 30, 2010 | Category: I'm a Blogger, I'm a celebrator
I haven’t written a new post in over a week. I didn’t even realize it until today, but it’s been a week. Actually, I’ve spent very little time at all on-line in the last 7 days. And I think it’s kinda awesome.
Life, it just gets busy, ya know? I have a months worth of funny stories and blog worthy events I could write about. But it probably will never happen.
I’ve decided that it’s ok to put down the camera, every once in a while. To consciously forget to photograph an event, so you can fully enjoy the moment, without worrying about if you’ve capture it perfectly.
I’ve decided the memory will be just as sweet if it’s never seen on my Facebook wall, or tweeted out on my Twitter stream in play-by-play action, or uploaded to my Flickr account.
Did you know, that contrary to popular belief, a tree can still fall even if nobody actually Flickr’sMyTweetFaceoff about it? Yes, it’s true, the tree can still successfully fall even if I forget to blog or text you about it.
This past week, I’ve been busy. Busy living life uninterrupted.
I’ve made meals for friends, and have had meals made for me.

Oh life. I remember that.
(Clearly I haven't been doing anything exciting this past week.)

I saw this quote the other day and fell in love with it:
"Each day we are making deposits into the memory bank of our children."
Cheesy, yes. But it really made me think and I'm working on making BIG investments in that! Sounds like you are, too.
And giddy? Oh so giddy!! Yes, yes, yes!!

Yes, yes. That little thing called life. We are trying to cram an awful lot of it in lately, that is for sure!

I did kinda the same thing this past week–we were at the lake and I took maybe a third of the photos I would usually take, and just relaxed instead. Sometimes I spend too much time recording the moment instead of experiencing the moment.

I've had times like that- when the experience is so much better when I just experience. Sometimes, I get scared that my mind won't remember it all exactly the right way later on- and that is usually why I want my camera close by and my words written soon after. But sometimes, just like you said, life just needs to happen and be enjoyed and not have all of it memorized and memorialized.

I think A LOT of us are busier these days. The ole internet is kinda quiet it seems. And that's fine with me.
Even as much as I love it, NOTHING beats REAL life.
Glad to hear you are living it.

It's all in your heart and there is very much to show for it!
I was just telling the girls the other day that I was thinking- why in the world are we ok with saying some really mundane stupid things on Twitter, like, chronically, non stop? Because us weirdos on Twitter will actually listen to it. We are encouraging this behavior! I used to think people were missing out by not being as involved in social media- how did they keep updated?
Um, I was totally wrong. I'm the one missing out when I can't get my butt off the Twitter.

Oh man you're lucky I'm your friend, because A. I'll always have a camera and B. you nearly killed me dead with that statement.
Me? You know, I've just been making people and stuff. No biggie.

I've been living life as well…and yet posting MORE. Probably because I'm actually living life instead of staring at my computer screen all day. You really have more to blog about when your life is hopping. With my two oldest in school now it seems like the little one and I just have one heck of a blast doing things – away from the comp. And I'm okay with that

Love this post. I'm so concerned with getting the shot so I can Facebook it that I miss the moment. ALL THE TIME.

I often get caught up it capturing every moment in my children's life so I'll have something to look back on and remember once they are grown up and doing their own thing. But those times where the camera isn't weighing down my neck as I snap a million pictures (of which only five are keepers), they are freeing. I'm able to freely climb, run and chase my daughter around. And I know that means more to my little girl than pictures.

I totally get it…whenever I'm absent from my blog, it's usually because I've been swept up in life. And that's ok.

This post made me so happy. I work at a computer all day, having to sit on my toosh (which starts to actually hurt after a while), so that last thing I want to do when I get home is sit at my own computer. Which means… the blog gets ignored, my photos never get edited (let alone posted online – my poor family never gets to see those hundreds of pics I always take and promise), emails don't get returned, I'm not very active on facebook, and I don't even have twitter. I get sad sometimes about that stuff, espeically the blog and photos. But that's how it is because I choose to rather use the little spare time I have to do the more fulfilling things available to me.
So you are doing the absolutely right thing – living life in the NOW. And when you have to choose between that and the other stuff, you're making the right choice – no doubt.

I agree. Completely.
Life is sometimes the sweetest and best when it is lived…unplugged.

I've been feeling much the same way lately. The only reason I'm still blogging is for journaling purposes. It is nice to look back on.
As for Facebook and Twitter. I am so over it. I think as a society we just need to unplug. Learn how to live again.
