Let’s all go see Billy Elliot! (local Indianapolis giveway)

I’ve gone to New York City a few times, but have yet to attend a Broadway show. The funny thing is, seeing a Broadway show is totally on my life bucket list, but yet it’s never worked out for me during the few trips I’ve taken to The Big Apple.

But these days, the really fantastic thing about Broadway productions is that you don’t have to live in NYC to experience the bright lights and big action of high caliber shows, thanks to national tours.

Next month, November 13-18 Billy Elliot is coming to the Old National Center, located downtown Indianapolis. The dates for this show are freakishly close to my birthday, so yes, I AM TOTALLY PUMPED.

So what’s this Billy Elliot show all about?

“Billy Elliot is a story about a young boy in a depressed working-class mining town in the North of England. Set during the history-making 1984 miner’s strike, the show follows Billy, the youngest child of a blue-collar family that has recently lost its Mum, as he discovers his unlikely and extraordinary gift for ballet.” ~Broadway in Indianapolis

Who should go to Billy Elliot? Like, should I take my young kids and old granny?

“The show is littered liberally with the sort of bad language you’d expect to find in a blue-collar community during tough times (some of the best expletives are delivered by the show’s child stars themselves), though nothing worse than you’d hear on your average late-night cable drama. A few mildly violent riot scenes and a 2+ hour running time may make the show unsuitable for your own youngsters, but the show’s message, content and story and content are a definite don’t-miss for ages 8 and above.” ~ Broadway in Indianapolis

  10. Add me to the list of people who would go for her birthday (Nov 19 HOLLA). I’d take my hubby; back in the days of no kids and two incomes he’d often get me theatre tickets for my birthday. Hasn’t happened since H & E–maybe this is the year!
