Belgium. I’m not even kidding.

I’ve been preoccupied with something really epic these past few months. And I haven’t been able to talk about it with anyone other than Michael.

News so incredibly huge, but so incredibly confidential as well. The kind of secret news that sits on your chest and tries to suffocate you to death.

But now it’s time to let you all in. Green means go, and I’m spilling it.

We’re moving to Belgium.

For three years.

Starting this summer.

belgiumheart

We told the kids a few days ago, and have spent the last 48 hours letting close family and friends in on the news.

I have a ton to share with you about this big decision to move, and what it’s going to look like for our family of six to relocate abroad.

But for right now, I had to just get it out and start breathing again. I’ve reached my secret keeping limit, and this one has been a doozie.

Belgium, you guys. Crazy.

  7. Wowza! Such huge news! Looking forward to following along with your journey.

I work with a man whose job took him and his family to Germany for three years (leaving the States when his kids were 4 and 6). He said it was an incredible experience for his family!

  17. As someone who has a comfort zone the size of a quarter and an anxiety issue the size of a football field the thought of moving to another country takes my breath away. I hope it’s the adventure of a life time for your family. I’ll just sit here and live vicariously, k?

  22. That sounds amazing. (And scary.) And awesome. (And scary.) And fabulous. (And a little scary.) Just so you know I did a massive FOUR page report about Belgium in sixth grade. I’m sure I could find that puppy somewhere (being the pack rat that I am) if you need some questionable facts on the subject written by a twelve year old using a 1984 encyclopedia.
Oh and by the way- you are totally going to rock in Belgium.

  23. So my aunt and uncle moved to Amsterdam way back in 1987 for his job…And they never came back! There were other jobs and they spent 1999 in Bangkok with a drive and a housekeeper (company provided) while living on a resort like golf course. But the few offers to come back to states weren’t appealing enough. So they went back to Amsterdam and have been there happily ever since. My cousin was born on Thailand but is happily living his dutch teenager life. They love it there. You may love it too.

Oh, they moved from here in Indy as well, I should throw that out there.

Will you do language immersion in French, German, and Dutch all at once or just one a time? Take lessons whatever you decide!

It is an adventure. If you can plan for a guest room as lots of loved ones will want to visit.

    Congrats, good luck, enjoy!!

Oh wow, this is awesome! One of the things I’m most excited about moving to Belgium is the chance to finally visit Amsterdam. I’m actually 100% Dutch, and can’t wait to visit the motherland!

But we will be coming back home to Indiana for sure, or at least that’s the plan…
